Cannock Chase is home to the Midlands first dedicated mountain bike trail. Follow the Dog is a 7 mile intermediate mountain bike trail aimed at competent mountain bikers. Highlights of the trail include the boardwalk and skinny over the puddle of doom and the 'chainslapper' descent. Follow the Dog is open year round (subject to maintenance closures) and is free to ride. The trail starts and finishes at the Birches Valley Cycle Centre. Groups with younger children or novice riders are advised not to ride the trails but to choose one of the green waymarked Leisure Trails. Chase Trails are currently carrying out the planning works for a new trail 'Phase 2' which will expand on our success with Follow the Dog by bringing riders a far more advanced, technical trail.
